ACOMIN Cautions Hoodlums From Destabilising Health Services, And Vandalisation Of Osun PHCs

Accountability of Civil Society Organizations on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition, ACOMIN has cautioned unruly individuals and hoodlums from destabilising health services, and from vandalising facilities of Primary Healthcare Centres, PHCs in Osun state.

The warning notice was issued at the September Monthly Coordination Meeting, MCM held at the Conference hall of Omilas Intercontinental Hotel, where discuss on the health service activities of the project Community Based Organisations, CBOs was made.

In his address, the Osun state Chairman of ACOMIN, Dr Aremu Stephen Akinyele, reiterated the need for the project Community Based Organisations, CBOs to make impact in their locations, while also commending them on consistency.

Dr Aremu, who frowned at the behavior of unruly individuals and hoodlums who attempted to destabilise the activities of health service to the people of the community, affirmed that saving lives is important, he added that access to qualitative healthcare services is also important, hence avoiding anything that could jeopardise the good work being done to save lives at the health facilities in the state.

While commending Osun government under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, for providing an enabling environment, he reiterated that it is the duty of everyone in a community to collectively protect every item, staff and property of the PHCs, put in existence to save lives, he affirmed that ACOMIN in collaboration with government agencies, has put measures in place to prevent intrusion of unruly individuals or hoodlums.

He said, "the health facilities is built by the government, but it belongs to all of us, for our health usage, and it is a needed facility for necessitated health attention, therefore, we must all protect it."

Dr Aremu used the medium to announce that for the next ACOMIN GC7 quarter, non-performing Community Based Organisations in the project will be reconsidered, and that capacity building workshop will be conducted for the CBOs to enhance service delivery.

In her remark, the State Primary Healthcare Development Board, SPHDB HIV/AIDS Desk Officer, Mrs Oluwatoyin Oladunmoye announced that intervention success was made at some of the PHCs, and she told the ACOMIN CBOs on the need for validation of activities.

Speaking alongside the project partners, she said the new directive is that funds allotted for activity such as security salary among others should not be diverted for another purpose, but used strictly for its intent.

In his remarks, the Roll Back Malaria Malaria Manager at SMEP, Dr. Olufemi Oroge reiterated the effort of the government in delivery of qualitative healthcare services for the benefits of the people of Osun state.

He also assured ACOMIN of the government continuous support of the project, adding that the government of the day is passionate about the welfare of the people, and will always ensure that they have access to the necessary treatment at facilities, whenever any health issue occurs.

The State Program Officer SPO David Amoto, also applauded ACOMIN and the CBOs for consistency and passion in serving the people, he added that Malaria eradication, zero HIV/AIDS among others in the state, is a priority and achievable.

The partnership with ACOMIN and the with the community based organisations in providing qualitative healthcare, as well as the needed health support services to the people of Osun state, in line with its development objectives was commended.
