OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT COMMENCES CONSTRUCTION OF OBOKUN 33KV FEEDER LINE

In a significant move to enhance electricity supply in Osun State, the government has inaugurated the construction of the Obokun 33KV Feeder Line. Initially awarded in 2013, the project was abandoned due to lack of funding and interest by successive administrations. However, the current administration, led by Governor Ademola Adeleke, has prioritized the project's completion to address electricity challenges in Obokun Local Government.

The flag-off ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including the Commissioner for Energy, who commended Governor Adeleke's commitment to completing abandoned projects. The Obokun 33KV Feeder Line will supply electricity to four Local Governments: parts of Ilesa West, Obokun Local Government, Igbajo in Boluwaduro Local Government, and Kajola and Osunjela in Atakumosa West Local Government.

The project is expected to significantly impact the economic and social lives of the affected communities. The Commissioner for Energy announced that the state government has complied with Governor Adeleke's directive to establish Osun Electricity Bill and Policy. A draft Electricity Market Bill is being processed for the State Assembly's attention.

The flag-off ceremony marks a significant milestone in the Osun State government's efforts to address electricity challenges faced by its citizens. Upon completion, the Obokun 33KV Feeder Line will provide improved electricity supply and economic growth for communities in Obokun Local Government and beyond.

The four affected communities' yearning reached Mr. Governor through a letter written to the Ministry of Energy by Honourable Adewumi Irekandu, the member representing Obokun State Constituency.
