OSUN NURTW CHIEF DUMPS APC, JOINS PDP WITH THOUSANDS OF SUPPORTERS

In a shocking political move, Comrade Lekan Salami, the former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in Osun State, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

Salami, a prominent member of the APC, made the announcement during a visit to the Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun, on October 3, 2024.

The NURTW chief praised the developments and growth experienced in Osun under the leadership of Governor Sen. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, citing improved road networks, cleared salary arrears, and upgraded health centers as key factors influencing his decision.

Salami expressed his previous opposition to Sen. Adeleke during the gubernatorial elections, but acknowledged the positive impact of his administration, evident throughout the state.

He highlighted the dualization of roads in his hometown, Ilesa, as a significant achievement and a testament to the governor's commitment to development.

Speaker Egbedun warmly welcomed Salami, emphasizing the wealth of experience and dedication he and his followers will bring to the PDP.

Egbedun assured the people that Sen. Adeleke's administration is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where every voice is heard and valued.

The speaker hinted at the party's commitment to harnessing fresh ideas and perspectives to pave the way for a brighter future for all residents of Osun State.

This defection is seen as a significant boost to the PDP in Osun State, potentially solidifying the party's influence and promoting unity and development.
