NIWIIT Conference: Empowering Women in Tech for a Sustainable Future

The 9th National Conference of the Nigeria Women in Information Technology (NIWIIT) has kicked off in Osogbo, Osun State. The conference, which started on June 26, 2024, has brought together professionals from various industries to empower women in tech.

President Dele Bayo-Osibo delivered a powerful welcome address, emphasizing the importance of gender equality in the tech industry. She encouraged women to develop technological solutions that address local needs and highlighted challenges women face in communication.

First Lady of Osun State, Mrs. Titilola Adebusola Adeleke, also delivered a keynote speech, reiterating the need for empowering women in technology. She commended the Osun State Government for supporting the cause, registering over 50 IT women professionals, and providing welfare packages.

The conference aims to shape the future through innovation and collaboration, featuring keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops. Attendees include professionals from various industries, networking and learning from industry experts.

In a heartwarming gesture, NIWIIT presented cash gifts to students of Fakunle Comprehensive High School and Baptist High School, encouraging and supporting the next generation of women in tech.

The Oṣùn State Chapter of NIWIIT also inducted new members into the organization, expanding its reach and impact. The induction ceremony was a highlight of the conference, as new members were welcomed into the NIWIIT community.

Furthermore, the conference witnessed the inauguration of new State Chapters, marking a significant milestone in NIWIIT's expansion and growth. The newly inaugurated State Chapters include Plateau, Lagos, Abuja, Kogi, and Oyo.

These new Chapters are poised to promote gender equality and empower women in tech at the grassroots level, ensuring that the impact of NIWIIT is felt across the country. Immediately after the inauguration of the new Chapters, NIWIIT held its Annual General Meeting (AGM).

The AGM provided a platform for members to discuss the organization's progress, set new goals, and elect new executives. The event has been declared open, and attendees are eager to make a positive impact in the tech industry.
