OSUN STATE UNVEILS 2024 HEALTH SECTOR ANNUAL OPERATIONAL PLAN

Barr. Jola Akintola, the Health Commissioner of Osun State, emphasized the pivotal role of the Health Annual Operational Plan (AOP) during the unveiling of the 2024 Osun State Health Sector AOP at OSAMDO Hall, Osogbo.

 Barr. Jola Akintola expressed gratitude to contributors and partners for their support, acknowledging the collaborative efforts that led to positive outcomes in formulating and sharing yearly health sector strategies.

The Commissioner underscored the uniqueness of simultaneously developing and disseminating the 2024 Osun Health AOP within the same year, emphasizing its crucial role in shaping the state's healthcare agenda for 2024.

Dr. Isiaka Adekunle, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, assured that the AOP serves as a guide for collective efforts aimed at improving healthcare delivery, addressing challenges, and ensuring residents' access to quality and affordable health services.

Dr. Olakunle Famakinwa, the Director of Planning and Research, likened the AOP to an annual health sector budget, emphasizing its potential to enhance the lives of the state's populace if implemented effectively. He acknowledged the involvement of various health partners in addressing issues such as TB, leprosy, malnutrition, and immunization.

Representatives from WHO, ACOMIN, ECEWS, and UNICEF conveyed goodwill messages, expressing appreciation for the state government's support and providing a conducive environment for their activities. They stressed the importance of maintaining a flawless scorecard to achieve a 100% success rate.

Dr. Oyetunde Olasunmboye, the focal person for the Health Sector Annual Operational Plan, provided an overview of the document. He outlined its seven chapters, covering state profiles, situational analysis, health status overview, implementation status review of the 2023 AOP, SWOT analysis, vision, mission, core values, strategic interventions, cost implications in the 2024 AOP, and a summary of the performance monitoring plan for 2024 AOP. The document highlights the interconnectedness of health, sustainable development, and national productivity. Dr. Oyetunde Olasunmboye emphasized the government's ongoing investments in health sector reforms to establish a modern and efficient healthcare delivery system for the citizens of Osun State.

The highlight of the event was the official release of the Osun State Health Sector Annual Operational Plan for the year 2024.
