Iree Poly Inducts New Campus Journalist Excos

The body of campus journalists of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, has officially inaugurated a new set of journalists on Tuesday, October 17, 2023. 
The body popularly known as the Namacos Editorial Board inducted the  journalists in the institution premises during a journalists hangouts program with the theme ‘ Rudiments of Journalism Outside The Campus’.*

 In his remarks, the outgoing Editor-in-Chief of the board, Michael Obisesan expressed his gratitude to his outgoing team who has made it possible to practice ethical and conscience campus journalism.


According to him; “NEB as a body, has achieved a lot over the years, by holding public office holders and campus politicians accountable. This act has become an avenue that enlightened most campus politicians about how to relate with the media and how important it is".


“Apart from practising journalism, we were also able to train lots of students in journalism, while we were consistent in organizing tutorials across all levels to help students achieve excellence in their various lectures and examinations."


“Similarly, we faced challenges, threats and many other hazards, but none of these jeopardised our reportage. We uphold the integrity of the board and we did not allow any stain to drop on it.”


In the same vein, the Ex-secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, John Boladale Bamigbola, during his lecture at the event urged all the campus journalists to uphold the ethics guiding journalism, while he also emphasised on the guidance of journalism outside the campus. 


Similarly, the state Secretary of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Comrade Abisola Ariwodola, also advised the campus journalists to make effective use of the digital age in practising ideal journalism, while she also urged the future practitioners to identify their area of concentration, build on their skill and be creative about their various beats, and she also urged the Journalists to avoid stay lies or anything that can tarnish their journalistic image, and to always ensure that their report is balanced and not biased.
