Commissioner for Local Government seeks for peaceful Coexistence Among Apomu and Ikoyi Communities ...says status que should remain on Baale Ile- Ire

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Dosu Babatunde has sought for peaceful co- existence among the people of Apomu and Ikoyi Communities in Isokan Local Government and Isokan South Local Council Development Area of Osun State.

Barr. Dosu Babatunde  made this Known while having a peace meeting with the Alapomu of Apomu and Olukoyi of Ikoyi and the Chairmen of the two Councils.

The Commissioner said that peaceful coexistence in the society is the pillar that support many aspects in human life, while appealing to the two Communities to live together in harmony.

He added that the status quo should remain for now on the issue of Baale of Ile - ire, urging the two communities to allow peace to reign.

He emphasized that  there should be good communication between the two monarchs which  will bring mutual and better understanding among them. 

The two monarchs, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, Alapomu of Apomu and His Royal Majesty, Oba Iyiola Taofeek Akande the Olukoyi of Ikoyi, in their separate remarks agreed that the two communities are intervowen through intermarrige, culture and tradition and promised to allow peace reign and continue to live together as brother and sister.

They also thanked the State Government for the quick intervention on the matter.

In attendance were the Permanent Secretary Ministy of Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Mr. Femi Ogundun, Caretaker Chairmen of the two Councils and their Heads of Local Government Administration.
