ADEKUNLE BURAIMOH FOUNDATION: ONE GOOD TURN DESERVES ANOTHER

By GOKE BUTIKA

Life has phases. Obviously the sociology of our ecosystem enhances its stratifications, and In some forms everyone falls into the categories of “haves and have-not”, but it takes a deep to digest the workings of the cosmos.
Human beings are social beings, and different scholars of emotional intelligence argue that we are who we relate with. That reinforces the maxim that says, “show me your friends, and I will tell you who you are.”
If you think because you’re fortunate to have more money in bank and good job that pours more, that’s a phase in life, the system is not static, power will change hands, knowledge will animate new ways of doing things, technology will push your old ideas to the dustbin of history and age will slow you down and you will be soon become a yesterday’s person.
Yes, someone my argue that if you stay alert and keeps on flowing with the tidal waves of the system, updating your knowledge, your position in the society will be assured as long as you renew yourself with currency of the new trend.
As beautiful as the argument appears, another phase of the argument is that, would you renew your age in such a way that your chemistry and physiology would match the younger generation in your old age? Would you abandon the duties and responsibilities attached to your age, leadership at certain age in pursuit of energy and juvenile of the younger age? And would you have new medication to renew and reorganize your brain in such a way that the spark of its electricity and multifunctional wires would return to the age of exploration? Would you have renewed your body chemistry in such a way that if you lose sleep over some thought process, you will not lose your life? These and many other questions challenge our humanity as we move from one stage to another in life.
So, the only potent way to maintain relevance in life is to construct a social ladder that will assist the needy of today to rise, because by lifting others,    our relevance will be assured. Those who you helped to climb the ladder will lift you in the period of abandonment. It may not be linear, but somehow what goes round comes round.
Now, I can figure out the motivation behind the Adekunle Buraimoh foundation that is being inaugurated today. The United States based College Professor of Cybersecurity, Adekunle Buraimoh is a son of an Osogbo born renowned Artist and traditional Chief, Jimoh Buraimoh, chooses to return to his root with aim of lifting the needy, brilliant but indigent students and empowering the have not.
What strikes me most is that Adekunle Buraimoh chooses to return home to assist the downtrodden when many Nigerians abroad are running away from Nigeria and badmouthing the country of birth. If there is anything called social ladder, this is it.
All hail Adekunle Buraimoh the man with great heart.
