Stop this show of shame... …it’s time to weed out corrupt partisan officials..... Says youth organisation

Strong indication has emerged how crisis has continued to trail the selection and appointment of the new rector of the Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese-Ijebu in Ogun State.

With what it called "Kangaroo Selection", A Concerned Youth Organisation in Ogun State has condemned in the strongest possible term what it describes as the ongoing show of shame in the institution over the selection process that produced unqualified person as the pioneer rector of the polytechnic.
This demand was contained in a statement signed by the Organisation's Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel John Fabiyi late on Monday.

The concerned youth organisation in a statement described the exercise that produced Akinbo Rasaki as the new pioneer rector of the institution as faulty and uncalled for.

“Going forward, there should be a deliberate process of revisiting the appointments of the rector of the institution to weed out corrupt and extremely partisan officials and to put a round peg directly in a round hole.

" We are commending the efforts of Governor Dapo Abiodun towards the development of education sector in our dear state, but it's unfortunate that some bad eggs called himself a legal luminary and a registrar as well governing council chairman are trying to damage and tarnish Mr Governor's image by not doing the right things, leaving due process because of their selfish interest.

"Mr Governor Sir, it is not over until it is over, there is still room for the Ogun State Government to duly and urgently correct the wrong by setting up an investigative panel that would look into the selection process being used by the management of the institution that led to the emergence of Akinbo Rasaki as the pioneer rector.

" We are not angry of whoever that will become the pioneer rector of the polytechnic but the selection process must be followed with due process because of the future of the institution " the association stressed.

The youth association added further that, person to be chosen as the pioneer rector of the polytechnic should not be religious fanatics, adding that “the idea of picking anybody to become rector will not help but compound various challenges facing polytechnic education.

"Our position is that it will be out of place to appoint a Master degree holder as substantive rector when you have qualified Phd holders. Doing that will not alllow the polytechnics to compete favourably with the Universities.

“Again, the case of Ilese polytechnic should not be any different in the country where all rectors are all Phd holders.

"We, however, need to reiterate here that we are for nobody or anybody, we are only out for the right thing to be done for the betterment of the institution that have been recognised and acknowledged as a first generation polytechnic in the country" the youth stated.

Recalled that a concerned group had recently informed Governor Abiodun to invites the chairman of the institution's governing council to confirm the authenticity of the claim that the recommended candidate did not have a Ph.D. certificate at the time of his application.
