Osun NAWOJ Advocates Breastfeeding of Babies To Nursing and Pregnant Women

As the world marks this year Exclusive Breastfeeding Week, mothers have been urged to ensure that their babies are well fed with breast milk to enable them grow well in life.

Also, mothers are reminded that breastmilk is a good and necessary diet for growing babies most especially at their formative years

This was expressed in a release by Osun Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists NAWOJ, signed by the state Chairperson Mrs Motunrayo Ayegbayo and the Secretary Comrade Abisola Ariwodola

Osun NAWOJ appealed to nursing mothers not to deprive their babies of breastfeeding.

Pointing out that lots of  mothers are avoiding feeding their  babies breastmilk for the stipulated first six months of life, due to economic survival, where they have to work to support their families, Osun NAWOJ advised that the well being of the growing babies must be seen as a priority, and should not be neglected.


The statement emphasized that breastmilk boosts babies immune system and encouraged pregnant mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months adding that breastmilk provides essential nutrients for babies growth and creates a strong bond between  mother and child.


Osun NAWOJ in the statement added that children are the future leaders hence it is important to feed them with mandated nutrients, which is breastmilk as this will protect them from falling sick
