NEMA, OSSG, OSEMA DISTRIBUTE FARM INPUTS TO OSUN FARMERS

The National Emergency Management Agency, in colaboration with Osun State  Government, through Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), has distributed farm inputs to farmers, that were affected by year 2022 flood disaster, across the 30 Local Government Areas and Area Office of the State.
 The South West Zonal Coordinator of NEMA, who is the Supervisor for the distribution of yams and other farm inputs in Osun,Mr Akiode Saheed stated this at the flag- off ceremony, held in OSEMA Warehouse, Osogbo.

Mr Akiode disclosed that the distribution was to effect   the Federal Government's directive and approval released by the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari to put smiles on the faces of Osun victims affected by flood bites in year 2022 with the provision of relief materials.
 
Mr Akiode, who stressed that the relief is not directed to  farmers alone, clarified that  yams were distributed first because of the perishable nature of the product, explaining that as soon as the distribution of yams are completed, the distribution of other relief materials  like foodstuffs, sewing machines, food items and non - food items to other vulnerable people in the State shall commence.

Mr Akiode also hinted that all the beneficiaries of the relief materials have been tagged with numbers, during the last registration exercise earlier conducted, and that the farm inputs and other materials shall be distributed in turns.

 Among the farm inputs are yams, chemical, hands sprayers and fertilizer.

  He then advised the farmers to use the relief materials judiciously and for the purpose designed.

Speaking earlier, the new General Manager, Osun State Emergency Management Agency,Engr Bilal  Adiat  appreciated the Federal Government and NEMA for the good gesture extended to Osun farmers and the vulnerable  in the State.

 He thereafter appreciated the Governor of the State, Senator Ademola Adeleke for his proactiveness to always attend to the wellbeing of Osun residents since he came on board.
Engr.Adiat, therefore urged the beneficiaries not to sell the relief materials but rather use them judiciously so that  food may be in abundance in Osun.

 In her words of appreciation,one of the beneficiaries,Mrs Fisayo Akindele, appreciated the Federal Government,NEMA and Osun State Government for their team spirit in cushioning the effect of hardship on people from time to time.
