Motorcycle Jacket Is To Enhance Security Of Passengers and Riders - Transportation Commissioner .. pleads for cooperation

Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele has explained why it is necessary for every commercial motorcyclist to have the identity jacket and cards.

He said the identity jackets and cards will go a long way in curbing the security challenges that men of the underworld perpetrate through the use of commercial motorcycles.

The Commissioner stated this while featuring on a live current affairs programme tagged 'Frank Talk' monitored on Rave fm in Osogbo.

He said the jackets and identity cards will enable Government to have the accurate data of commercial motorcycle operators in the State which will help the State government to attend to their welfare and enhance security. 

Hon. Oyedele said arrangements are in top gear for government to fully take charge of the proper identification of each commercial motorcycle operator in the State.

Responding to questions concerning the various associations that exists among the commercial motorcycle riders in the State, the Commissioner said series of meetings are ongoing in bid to unify all of them under one umbrella.

In his words, "I want to assure residents of Osun State that the issue of jackets and identity cards for commercial motorcycle riders is to enhance security of both the rider and passenger. We need to have a data base of all riders in the State for our own good, we need to be able to monitor them". He stated.

Also speaking on the programme, "the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transportation, Hon. Moshood Adejare hinted that the present administration in the State will do everything possible to ensure safety on the roads. 

While urging motorists, motorcycle riders and residents to always comply with the rules and regulations guiding road traffic, the Special Adviser said safety on the road is a joint task for all.
