Why I Want To Become APC National Secretary,Ex-Senate Spokeperson Ajibola Basiru Reveals

Former Spokesman of the 9th Senate, Senator Ajibola Bashiru,(SRJ) on Friday, spoke on his aspiration for the position of National Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he’s eminently qualified for the top job.

Receiving officials of the APC National Integrity Movement (ANIM) in his office in Abuja, Bashiru said that his credentials as a lawyer, academic, and activist “speak for me”.
A statement by Spokesperson for the group, Lanre Asiwaju, said that the ANIM delegation was led by its Director of Organisation, Yakubu Aminu.

“l have a track record of working for the party across the various zones of the country. “l have a Ph.D. in law, a published author with the intellectual accomplishment and technocracy to deliver in all tasks assigned,” Bashiru said.

The former lawmaker promised to address the issue of the reward system in the party if he gets the job.

According to him, the party boasts of seasoned professionals in all fields and must recognize and reward hard work. “The nation is going to witness a very robust engagement in terms of building the capacity of our party,” the former Senate Spokesman said.

He described it as “unnecessary” calls for the appointment of technocrats in the filling of political positions. “Those who call themselves technocrats as opposed to politicians should come and learn both politics and technocracy from us”. “Our president is a seasoned accountant. Our vice president is a seasoned banker and administrator with intellectual capacity. “So, they should not throw any baggage at us as if because we are politicians, we are not technocrats.

We are both politicians and technocrats,” he concluded.
