Protect yourself and Family With Insecticide Treated Nets – Titilola Adeleke Advocates to Osun Residents …as she gets adorned as the NET AMBASSADOR, pledges active measure

Residents of Osun state has been called upon to protect themselves and their family from malaria infection by using Insecticide Treated Nets.
The call was made by the wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke at her investiture as the NET Ambassador for Osun state, where she also pledged active measures to support the government in eliminating malaria out of Osun state.


The wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke made the advocacy at her investiture, held at the Exco lounge of the Governors Office at the government secretariat on Monday.


Thanking the federal ministry of health, national malaria elimination program and roll back malaria partners for providing the insecticide treated nets free of charge to all households in Osun state, she described malaria as one of the common public health problems in Nigeria that affects Nigerians, especially children under 5-years of age and pregnant women.
She maintained that attention must be paid on such category of people, pledged to use different channels and resources as the NET AMBASSADOR in collaboration with Net Advocates of the local government area, to mobilize the people at the grassroot areas for the collection of the ITNs.


Similarly, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke called on all and sundry to protect themselves against malaria by properly using the insecticide treated nets, be available for the collection and follow the guidelines on the effective usage of the net.


Also in her remarks, wife of the Ooni of Ife, Olori Temitope Enitan Ogunwusi charged caregivers and parents to make usage of the insecticide treated nets a priority, an action she termed important in the protection of lives against malaria virus.


The Team leader, National Malaria Elimination Program, Mr. John Ocholi, stated in his goodwill message that statistics shows that children die more from malaria infection, he highlighted that malaria prevention must be taken seriously.


He stated that 3.6 million nets will be distributed in Osun state to local governments in the state, made available to 1,181 units to serve as distribution hubs to the Osun Communities with the ITNs distributors moving from one household to the other, giving between two to four ITNs per household.


The duo of Iyaloja of Osun state Chief Mrs. Mary Oyebode and the Peoples Democratic Party state women leader, Mrs. Grace Otunla in their goodwill messages added that they are supporting the wife of the governor in her campaign against malaria to the good people of Osun state.


Congratulating the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Titilola Adeleke on her investiture as the NET AMBASSADOR, they opined that every household in communities of the state will be orientated on the importance and collection of insecticide treated nets to protects against malaria infection.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Health, Dr Isiaka Adekunle congratulated the wife of the Governor, Chief Mrs. Titilola Adeleke on her investiture as the Nets Brand Ambassador for Osun state, he stated that the ITNs is for everyone including pregnant women, children mothers, and men in local government areas in the state.
