2023 Elections: Stay Away From Violence, NYCN Chairman Charges Osun Youth

In about 48 hours to the General elections in the country, the Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Osun State Chapter, Comrade Abdulazeez Ismail Abiodun have called out to youths in the State not to allow anyone to use them as instrument of election violence before during and after the general elections.

Comrade Abdulazeez made the disclosure after the security meeting held at the Police State headquarter in Osogbo on Thursday, the meeting also involved heads of political parties and relevant stakeholders in attendance. 

The Osun NYCN Chairman who stated that the meeting identified sensitive security flash point within the State, appreciated efforts of security agencies in maintaining peace and taming down violence perpetrators, he also urged the Nigeria Police to embark on redeployment of Divisional Police Officers during elections just as being done for Commissioners of Police across the Nation.

Similarly, he used the medium to condemn the political killings that recently happened in Ijesa axis of the State, he pointed out that the violence claimed lives of promising youths and loss of properties, caused by the political groups in the area, this according to him is totally uncalled for.

The State Youth leader while charging the youths in Osun to think of their lives and future, urged them to stay away from violence, he however appealed to the politicians: who had before the election sent their families abroad so that they won't fall victim of violence which they themselves initiated, told them to contest without violence.

Comrade Abdulazeez Ismail Abiodun speaking to the youths maintained that "No politician is worth dieing for" he added.

"Let's maintain the peaceful process we had during the last governorship election, Osun is a peaceful state and we must make sure the peace subsist, - Ismail stated".
