INEC planning to scuttle 2023 polls, Action Alliance alleges 

The Action Alliance (AA) has berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the non recognition of all the candidates submitted to it by the party.

Specifically, the party alleged the INEC chairman, Prof Mamood Yakubu of planning to make the 2023 general elections a waste through his alleged biased position.

Addressing a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, the National chairman of the party, Dr Adekunle Rufai Omoaje alleged that Yakubu is covertly orchestrating a clandestine plan against the elections, saying that the Action Alliance will not  fold it's arms and watch the nation's democracy being destroyed.

He said "we are at the receiving end  of a calculated plan and agenda of Prof. Mahmood Yakubu,  going by his wicked meddlesomeness through INEC in the internal affairs of our party; the Action Alliance. 

"We fulfilled all INEC electoral guidelines and requirements according to the Nigerian constitution, yet Yakubu is hell bent at excluding Action Alliance from the coming 2023 general  elections. This forms the crux of our press briefing, to draw the attention of the relevant authorities and the nation in particular  about the miscarriage of justice in INEC, actively promoted by its Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu. 

"One Mr Kenneth Obidiche Udeze was the National Chairman of our party up to sometimes around June 2019, before he was suspended and expelled. Alh. Abubakar Mohammed took over as the acting Chairman of our party and after expiration of the term of that executive committee a national elective convention was conducted in February 2020.

"The February 2020 National Convention was monitored  by INEC officials. This

 brought in Dr Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje and his team as the new National Executive Committee of Action Alliance, INEC had related with the new NEC of our party, until around April 2022 when a collaborative plan started between Prof. Mahmood Yakubu and Kenneth Udeze to return him as Chairman of our party through the back door.

"Udeze never challenged his suspension and expulsion from the party internally and through the courts. Instead, he instituted several court cases urging the courts to declare him the National Chairman of the party but lost all," he added.

Omoaje informed that the INEC chairman has refused to upload the lists of all the party candidates for 2023 elections which he submitted to the commission.

 He insisted that the actions of INEC are capable of frustrating the 2023 general elections and called on well-meaning members of the public to call the commission to order.
