HFDI Gets Training on Implementing HIV Counseling And Testing

Hope For Family Development Initiatives HFDI was one of the Community Based Organizations CBOs that got training on how to implement HIV counseling and testing of patients in Akwa Ibom state.

At the Traditional Birth Attendants TBA monthly meeting, HFDI represented by the Community System Strengthening CSS officer, Uchenna Uwaoma got the advise to ensure that all pregnant women who patronize facilities get access to HIV testing and counseling alongside other services.

This according to the president of the TBAs, Mrs Rosemary Richard will ensure safety of the pregnant women and their unborn children and others.

They were mandated to shun and avoid stigmatization against their clients who are positive. 

Speaking further, Mrs Richard pointed out some of the challenges faced as TBAs, which includes negligence by the government, the need to assist the TBAs with HIV test kits, forceps, delivery table among others.

The participants were admonished on professionalism and confidentialism in handling HIV related issues.
