ALHIV: HFDI Advocates Balanced Diet, Prompt Medication in Akwa Ibom

Hope for Family Development Initiatives HFDI have advocated balanced diet and prompt medication to Adolescent living with HIV, ALHIV in Akwa Ibom state.

The Organizations' Mobilization Officer Eleodimuo Uche speaking on Operation Triple Zero, OTZ at the General Hospital in Etinan, emphasized that balanced diet gives strength, energy and protection from illnesses. 

She went on to remind the Adolescents Living with HIV, who attended the interactive meeting, that balanced diet includes building body foods like meat, beans, fish, eggs; energy giving foods such as rice, yam, and protective foods; like fruits and vegetables among others.

Uche encouraged the adolescents to eat healthy so that their diet will support their growth and make their drugs very effective, as she also encouraged them to promptly use their drugs as prescribed by their medical doctor.

Also, the ALHIV Coordinator Mrs Uduak, talked extensively on living positively with HIV and reducing Stigmatization, She encouraged the ALHIV to imbibe behaviours that will help them stay healthy and happy, such as getting enough sleep and rest, eating balanced diet, staying away from alcohol and drugs.

She pointed out that when these behaviors are combined with the adherence to their treatment, it will help them to have normal, productive and healthy life.

The Adolescent Living with HIV were also encouraged to always take their medications, learn to develop good self esteem and be cautious of bad friends or peer pressure. 

Operation Triple Zero, OTz is conducted in 3 LGA, conducted in Etinan, Mkpatenin and Nsitubuim local governments of Akwa Ibom state.
