Aree of Iree stool: Amotekun, security operatives storm Iree

Residents of Iree in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State have raised the alarm over the alleged invasion of the town by security operatives including men of the State Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun.

It was gathered that security personnel stormed the town on Friday apparently to scare people as kingmakers were to elect the new Aree of Iree.

The stool of the Are of Iree became vacant four years ago following the demise of the late Are of Iree.

However, efforts to appoint a new traditional ruler for the town have since proved abortive.

Some concerned indigenes and residents of the town expressed worry on the alleged intimidation by the security men, alleging that some individuals are behind the development.

Those who spoke with Thirdeye correspondent urged the powers that be to stop threatening the lives and property of the people of the town.

"When we need the security men they will not appear but when it's time to intimidate or attack the people you claim to rule over then you bring in full force. We are all in town when they rob our two banks where are the DSS, police and amotekun men? We don't want war in Iree we want peace and our fathers are peaceful."
