I Thank Osogbo For Their Support - Sen Basiru
Senator Ajibola Basiru of Osun Central Senatorial District has expressed gratitude to the people of Osogbo for supporting his political party the APC, in the last Governorship election.

Senator Basiru appreciated the efforts of Osogbo indigenes during his meeting with a socio-cultural group, “Osogbo Sons And Daughters”. The lawmaker explained that going by the details of the results, it is clear Osogbo and Olorunda voted for APC.

He also clarified that he did not play a sell out role in approving and siting The Federal University of Medical Sciences in Ila as being bandied about by some people.

Senator Basiru stressed that the Federal Government sited the University in Ila to honour a national leader of the party, Chief Adebisi Akande.

He explained further that as a first time Senator, his influence in the Senate cannot be compared with that of ranking lawmakers.


"We need to invest in our representatives to become ranking members of any organ of Government particularly legislature. Though I thank Osogbo for your support for the little I have been able to achieve in less than 4 years. I'm there because your are here for me but we have to consolidate on this."

And for those who lied that he did not do anything at all for Osogbo, Senator Ajibola Basiru emphasised that his records as a first time lawmaker are there for all to see.

"I built blocks of classrooms at Muslim Grammar School, Laro Grammar School, Ansarudeen and St Andrew Primary School as well as Oke Okanla besides other Interventions like renovation. I installed 259 solar lights across all markets in Osogbo and Palaces for proper illumination."

All these are in addition to Financial Interventions when Covid-19 ravaged the World and the Federal Government Survival Fund,N power with financial assistance to students.

"May I also say it again that bringing a Federal Medical Centre to Osogbo was in my manifesto. I thank Allaah that the bill for establishment of the Medical Centre in Osogbo has scaled Senate hurdles."

Senator Basiru added that he also facilitated construction of the road from Abaku area, Ayetoro through Alaperin bursting out at Iwalesin, Sabo area with grading of some communities roads. It could also be recalled that the Senator converted the age long huge dump site at Labeteku, Kajola Ile to a health centre in addition to the Agriculture Entrepreneurial Centre at Awosuru.

Besides several empowerment and training programmes for youths in agriculture and job opportunities which were all cash and equipment backed, Basiru disclosed that he got job slots for many Osogbo indigenes in the Civil Defence, Immigration and Customs, Nigerian Navy National Task Force, Federal Fire Service, Nigeria Diaspora Commission, Nigeria Financial Intelligence Unit and employment into Teaching Hospitals and Teachers Recruitment of the State Government.

In his remarks, President of Osogbo Sons And Daughters, Mr Saheed Akinyemi assured the Senator that the Group will mobilize for him ahead of next February's election, stressing that the focus of the Group is to uplift Osogbo And its indigenes.

"We are very happy to receive Senator Ajibola Basiru; our brother and leader, we are proud of him. I'm using this platform to assure Senator Ajibola Basiru that we will not only canvass for him but also ascertain that he emerges victorious in the election."


Osogbo Sons And Daughters is a socio-cultural group comprising all indigenes of Osogbo from all the six communities; Oke Baale, Isale Agbe, Ita Olokan, Isale Osun, Oke Popo and Owo Ope.
