I Turned Down  N100m, $2m Bribe To Rig Oyo 2019 — Agboke 

The outgoing Oyo state INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Barrister Mutiu Agboke, on Thursday said he turned down N100 million and another $2million as bribes offered to him to rig the 2019 governorship election.

Agboke made this  assertion while featuring on Noble FM’s news and current affairs program, Bembe Oro, monitored by this medium. 

The outgoing resident electoral commissioner, when asked if he received bribe in the course of discharging his duties in Oyo state, said he did not, but said he was offered bribes in local and foreign currencies.

Agboke who did not disclosed the identities of those who offered him such bribes, said he will never stand so low and compromise his standard at the detriment of the people.

The INEC boss called on security agencies to rise to the menace of vote buying in Nigeria and also sought for maximum cooperations from security operatives with the Independent National Electoral commission in future electioneering.

During the course of the interview, the outgoing REC revealed that INEC has designed a measure to to prevent and resist disruption of polling units during electioneering.

It will be recall that Agboke bowed out of office on Wednesday, having spent the mandatory five years tenure as a resident electoral commissioner as laid down by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
