Osun NIESV sensitizes students on opportunities in surveying and valuation .... encourages the future generation to develop interest in landed properties and other equipments...

The Osun Chapter of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV) has stated that lack of understanding the difference between professionalism and quackery in property industry is one of the reasons why many Nigerians have experienced setbacks in property development.

NIESV also revealed that estate management, surveying and valuation cannot be liquidated because of the importance of the profession to the economy of the country.

This was made known by Osun NIESV Branch Chairman, ESV Adekunle Adedoye during the catch them young programme in Estate Management and Valuation, held at Kings and Queens School Osogbo, where he revealed that the profession is considered as advanced economics because of the wide range of areas it covers.

While explaining that nature is guided by the principle of valuation, Adedoye hinted that the world is a big estate which God the creator had given to mankind to manage, he added that estate management is similar to structural engineering, he encouraged the future generation to develop interest in landed properties and other equipments.

The Osun NIESV chairman pointed out to the secondary school students that subjects such as English language, Mathematics, Economics, Physics and Geography are important for Estate management course in higher institution, he also stressed that for the success of real estate, land purchase has to be followed with feasibility studies and with the engagement of a qualified and licensed Estate Surveyor and Valuer.

ESV Adedoye further revealed that the NIESV is a professional body established through Decree 24 of 1975, Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Cap 13, 2004, and that every other profession at a point in time has an encounter with the practitioners.

He also stated that the law established the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria (ESVARBON) is recognized by the federal government, and it allows the practicing valuers access to use their services according to the guidelines of the registration board.

Adedoye also disclosed that with Estate management by the Valuers, there are favourable employment opportunities for aspiring estate surveyors and valuers since they can practically fit into any aspect of Nigeria's economy.

Highlight of the sensitization program was the questions and answers segment, as well as presentation of Secondary School textbooks in needed subjects by the Chairman of the Osun branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Valuers, ESV Adedoye Adekunle to the school. 

The textbooks was received by the senior head girl who in her vote of thanks, appreciated the state chairman of the NIESV who had in his entourage, the Osun branch Vice Chairman ESV Sola Jubril Adebiyi, the Secretary.ESV Bunmi Adeagbo and Financial Secretary ESV Folasade Olayemi.
