2023: Why Is PYO's Declaration Causing Panic In Tinubu’s Camp If Truly He Is The Jagaban?

It is no longer news that Nigeria's Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (PYO), expressed his intention to run for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the upcoming general election in 2023 on Monday. However, while the declaration of PYO is bad news for Tinubu and Amaechi's supporters, there is some good news for them as well. There are no natural born leaders in Nigeria's highest political office; people are not elected to that position based on their feelings, but on their ability to perform; the larger interests of over 200 million Nigerians outweigh the personal ambition of one man; therefore, let the most qualified person be in charge.
But why is the declaration of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo causing such a commotion among some people, particularly in the Tinubu’s camp if truly he is the Jagaban? Presently, Osinbajo has become a source of contention for some presidential contenders who believe they know everything. As a result of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo's declaration, the political dynamics and tempo have altered and accelerated. The genuine political music is currently being played. Those who believe they have reached the summit of political achievement are now caught in a swamp of political indecision. The social media platforms have been inundated with songs of treachery and ingratitude directed at the lovely Vice President of the the Federal Republic of Nigeria. However, it should be noted that politics is a game that any and all Nigerians are free to participate in. It will be unacceptable for Osinbajo to be aware that he has the ability to save Nigeria and then go on to endorse another politician who lacks the courage to save the country. While Nigerian politics and especially the presidential primaries have nothing to do with religious sensibilities, it is necessary to garner support in order to emerge as the frontrunner and stand a chance of winning the election. Everything about it is fascinating to me. Furthermore, you must make attempts to obtain the favour of party members through intrigues, whether through democratic procedures, money inducements, or propaganda. I, on the other hand, shall respectfully disagree. Those who are ready to throw a stone at the Vice President may not be aware of the calculations and tactics that went into his declaration, which will only become clear with time. Most significantly, the vice president satisfies all legal requirements to be considered for the post. So what's the harm in trying, and why is there a panic in Tinubu’s camp if truly he is the Jagaban of Nigerian politics as he is fondly called.
Ordinarily, PYO’s declaration was a mere exercise of his rights, and should not have been seen as a threat to the ambition of any other candidate. The stage is already set for the aspirants to showcase their political prowess, and Tinubu has a chance to stamp his authority as the Jagaban if truly the title is well-deserved. As such, Osinbajo’s declaration should not cause panic in his camp.
