Senator representing Osun Central Senatorial District Dr Ajibola Basiru felicitates with former Governor of Osun, Chief Adebisi Akande on his 83rd birthday.
Dr Basiru, in a congratulatory message, described Baba Akande as one of the very few, if not the only remaining original Awoist and disciple of Chief Obafemi Awolowo who still hold to the principles and philosophy of service to humanity as espoused by the Legend Obafemi Awolowo in his words and actions.
"Baba, at 83 you epitomise 'men sano in corporeal sano' at an age many have become senile. We thank God for your life. We are happy that the Progressives Tree you planted and nurtured to growth has become luxuriant for all of us and many to come into the fold."
"Sir, we have found in you a spring throwing forth a fountain from which we all drink to quench our thirst for political wisdom, social cohesion and personal growth. With your network of influence,you are not gerontocratic in your approach to issues."
The senate Spokesperson observed that as the first Governor in the fourth Republic, Baba laid a solid foundation for the grouth of the then nascent Osun and set a template for his successors.
"Today, people measure the performance of each Governor that has ruled and still ruling the State with your barometer in office. We are proud of you Sir."
Senator Ajibola Basiru says Chief Adebisi Akande's latitude particularly in politics is centripetal thus pulling people across strata of society to him, stressing that Baba is a compass to sail through murky water of politics.
Senator Basiru prays God to grant Chief Akande sound health to enjoy the rest of his life and reap further from trees he has nursed to luxuriance.
