Oyetola Launches Osun Tricycle Ambulance and IleriOluwa Basic medical emergency pack... Launch described as novel...... Government declared as grassroot friendly ..

In its bid to ensure that emergency medical services through Osun Ambulance Services Agency (O'Ambulance) reaches people at the grassroot areas across the state, the government of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola launched Osun Tricycle Ambulances and IleriOluwa Basic medical emergency pack for ease of transporting patients during medical emergencies.


The commissioning which was done by the first lady, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola, held at the O'Ambulance field in Government Annexe Osogbo.

This is as the launch was described as novel, the first of its kind in South West and Nigeria as a whole.


The gesture was also used to describe the government of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola as a grassroot people friendly initiative ones.


The Wife of the Governor, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola in her speech said that, the IleriOluwa Basic Medical Emergency Pack and the presentation of the Tricycle Ambulance to the primary health centers, would ensure that people in the rural and remote communities have services of medical personnel available to them even in emergency situations. 


She added that the three-wheel ambulance vehicles would complement the existing four- wheel vehicles which have continued to serve our people and which services have also been rated one of the best in Nigeria.


Mrs Oyetola noted with enthusiasm the services of O’ambulance to Osun people, described it as efficient and went ahead to thank Mr Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola for boosting the morale of the Staff of the Ambulance Service, through increased remuneration and training opportunities.
The first lady used the medium to call on women in the rural and remote communities to take advantage of the various health facilities being made available by making for care through trained health and medical personnel. 


She specially called on pregnant mothers to make use of these facilities, added further that soon, the government will roll out pregnancy care service to help pregnant mothers birth safely and securely, stressed that the service will also protect children and reduce the burden of neo-natal death in Osun.
In their goodwill messages, the Osun Commissioner of Police CP Olawale Olokode represented by ACP Kayode Ayilara and his counterpart in Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC Osun command, CC John Okpe represented by Asst Corps Commander Olu Agunloye congratulated Osun government under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for giving the state grassroot people friendly policies.
The duo who described the availability of the Ambulance tricycle to rural area in the interest of the people as novel, said more lives would be saved with the gesture, they added that collaboration on such initiative will aide their duties effectively.


The Head of Service, Dr Festus Olowogboyega Oyebade in his remarks commended Governor Oyetola said that, Nigeria is known for high rate of road crashes, amid it Osun is a state with low road traffic accident caused by over speeding, dangerous driving among others.


He added that the approval and provisions of Tricycle Ambulances and IleriOluwa Basic Medical Emergency Pack to Primary Health Care Centres across the State is highly commendable. Stressed that crashes in rural areas are caused by motorbike riders, and with the use of ambulance tricycle nooks and crannies of rural areas will be easily accessed in Osun.


Dr Oyebade used the medium to call out to Nigerian police to be flexible with patients who needs treatment that required police report such as gunshot, particularly at night period. Said victims of gunshot should be quickly treated to save their lives, that delay could endanger live or lead to death.


He tasked stakeholders to approach the House of Assembly to the modify law to give opportunity to emergency treatment of road traffic accident and gun shot accident.


In his highlight of achievement of Osun Ambulance Services Agency, O'Ambulance under the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, the General Manager of the O'Ambulance, Dr Samuel Babatunde maintained that O'Ambulance is performing better under the present government of Oyetola, said in his three years in office the government provided fully equipped ambulances, resuscitated grounded ambulances, and ensured training of the agencies' paramedics and drivers.


Dr Babatunde added that Osun Ambulance services has competent staff who work at the 27 units of the agency, detailed to respond to emergency call within 5 to 10 minutes. He also added that the government recently approved 100% increment of stipends collected by the paramedics and drivers.


He stated that Osun government through Osun Ambulance services agency has achieved a lot, hinged that about 3,000 lives has been saved in the last three years, with 158 babies delivered through the free of charge round the clock services provided to people of the state.


The Commissioner of Health Dr Rafiu Isamotu and the Chairman Primary Health Care Board, Hon Leke Ogunsola described the launching as a great thing, the first of its kind in Nigeria, particularly to the people at the grassroot, said ambulances are normal norms at urban areas, but having tricycle ambulances to be able to access rural areas in the local governments across the state is a great development.


They duo commended Osun Ambulance Services and other medical personnel in the state coffer for effective medical delivery, described the strides of Governor Oyetola as rare, that with the renovated and rehabilitated 332 healthcare centres with necessary medical equipment and consumables, the Tricycle Ambulance will boost medical work and saves lives tremendously.


The Iyaloja General of Osun, Alhaja Awawu Asindemade also commended the government of Gboyega Oyetola for being steadfast in the discharge of his duties to Osun citizens, she said that the provision of the ambulance tricycle would ensure swift responses to saving lives during medical emergencies, not only to people at the rural areas but also into markets as well.
