Spinal Cord Injuries Association Calls Out For Help and Support...Solicit for Stakeholders Intervention and Government Inclusion...

Spinal Cord Injuries People Association of Osun has called out for help and support to stakeholders comprising of individuals, corporate bodies, organizations, philanthropists and governments to come to the aid of persons in such category in order to save their lives.

The representative of the Spinal Cord Injuries People, who is also a person of such category Mr Olayemi Lucky Adeleye made this known through a sensitization program made to voice out the plight of the Spinal Cord Injuries People as one of the clusters of Persons With Disability.

He stated that Spinal Cord Injuries is common in Nigerian society, said that lots of people are affected either by road traffic accident or result of health complications, which had rendered most of them helpless and jobless thereby making living and surviving hard on them.

Adeleye mentioned that there is no government of Non-governmental provision for the Spinal Cord Injuries People on treatment, welfare, rehabilitation or society reintegration.

He emphasized that most of them with different category of Spinal Cord Injuries such as abnormal passage, colostomies among others are facing different kind of challenges which he described as medical, housing and accessibility challenges, as well as the need for caregivers among others.

He pointed out that the injuries people could not afford reconstructive surgery, accommodation or accessibility, adding that lack of ramp is synonymous with the society and that it is affecting them, he also added that most of them could not afford to pay for caregivers who will tend to them.

He used the medium to call out to passionate humanitarians, in the form of individuals or corporate bodies or organizations to come to the aid of the Persons With Disability who are of the Spinal Cord Injuries Cluster.

He particularly called out to the governments for inclusion of Spinal Cord People for consideration, provision and support, said they shouldn't be approached during Electoral period alone, he added that they have a right to life, and as citizens of the state and county as a whole, they deserve to be supported and be giving enabling environment.

"We are helpless, that is why we are calling for help, we are not finding it easy and the same can be mentioned of families of persons with Spinal Cord Injuries People, please help us" - Adeleye calls out.
