Osun Government Flags-Off e-Third Person Motor Insurance Scheme..... Call on residents to embrace the opportunity

To ensure an end to fake third party insurance certificate,  government of the state of Osun has   flagged off e-Third Person Motor Insurance Scheme.

The scheme put together by the Osun council of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) is in Collaboration with Osun Internal Revenue Service OIRS.

Addressing the gathering, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola  commended the leadership of Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers for sustaining the culture of creativity, innovation and selfless services.

Governor Oyetola who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji emphasized the readiness and commitment of his administration to continue to employ technology to simplify and expedite ease of doing business which in turn will radically turn the economy of the state around.

The governor thumbed up  the e-Third party insurance policy as apt and laudable with a declaration that it is  an improvement over the manual regime of issuing and obtaining insurance certificate.

He used the medium to call on members of  the Osun state branch of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers to take advantage of the emerging business climate in Osun to massively popularize the e-Third party policy.

In her remarks, the President of the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB), Dr Mrs. Bola Onigbogi appreciated the state government for the approval of the e-Third Person Motor Insurance Scheme.

The NCRIB President who was represented by the Commissioner for Human Resources and Capacity Building in the state of Osun, Alhaja Latifat Giwa also appreciated the stakeholders for supporting the e-Third Person Motor Insurance scheme ascapproved by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

Also speaking, the Chairman Osun Internal Revenue Service OIRS, Prince Adegbite Ademikanra applauded the efforts of the insurance brokers in the state  for the steps taken to ensure that the Scheme becomes a reality.

He called on other  associations such as National Union of Road Transport Workers, Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, Union of Tippers and Quarry Employers of Nigeria, Osun Commercial Motorists Association of Nigeria among others to  support the scheme.

Also at the occasion , Commissioner for Finance Mr Bola Oyebamiji who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the  Governor on Finance, Dr Wale Tijani urged the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers and relevant bodies involved in the documentation and claims to ensure prompt payment of claims in the event it is needed.

He also asked that rigourous sensitization be made to the people of the state to ensure that everyone is fully aware and involved in the benefits of e-Third Person Motor Insurance.

In his goodwill message, the Special Adviser to Governor on Works and Transport, Engineer Olaniyan Toke announced that a third party insurance isn't about vehicles alone but so many other things that are beneficial to human existence. He  stressed that it is  advisable to have it .

Earlier In his opening address, the Osun State Chairman for Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers, Mr Akinyoola Moses recalled  that as far back as 2019, the market development and restructuring initiative (MDRI) was launched to drive enforcement of compulsory insurances by reducing fake insurance certificates and grow the sector.

Other dignitaries at the flag off includes the Chief Operating Officer Great Nigeria Insurance represented by Mrs Yetunde Idowu, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Finance, Mrs Bimpe Ogunlumade, Board Secretary Osun Internal Revenue Service OIRS Mrs Tosin Falomo, State Licencing Officer, Mrs Joke Fafioye among other key stakeholders.
