Fountain Students Advocates For Renewed Morals and Values...Said Nigeria needs to be set on the right part with this virtues.

Group of 400 level students of Mass Communication Department of Fountain University Osogbo have charged Nigerians on the need for individual morals and values to be revived.

This is as they pointed out that Nigeria needs to reset its morals and values, adding that this was a standard from everyone about 15 years ago, unlike now that caution seems to be thrown to the wind with lack of morals and values seen in almost all sections of the country.

The disclosure was made at a-day seminar organized for secondary school students, by the Mass Communication students of Fountain University, themed: "The Roles of Morals and Values Teaching in the Society", held at Good Tidings Standard Collegiate in Osogbo the state capital.

The first speaker, Mr Oluwadayo Ajayi in his lecture stated that Honesty, Integrity, Kindness, Perseverance and Patience are keys to reshape the society, particularly Nigeria.

He added that everyone needs to work on their values, stressed that a person without moral will always disgrace his/her family, while someone with it will be able to differentiate good from bad and will add value to their society.

Ajayi speaking further pointed out that being able to apologize is also part of morals, that children as they grow should avoid bad peers, avoid vices and should also be focused, he maintained that any society that lacks morals and values will lack development.

The second speaker, Mr Dayo Adeniyi, asked the secondary school students, do you have a future? He attributed the decaying values and morals in Nigeria to unfocused younger generation, lack of adherence to parental guidance, bad influence, misuse of information communication technology ICT among others.

Advising the students who he described as the future generation on the need to brush their skills on ICT and use it appropriately for development, he pointed out that abuse of the internet leads to retrogression of morals and values.

The two speakers urged parents and families to revive consistency of morals and values in children, and that they should also display it as models, he charged the students to guide their mental stability by avoiding bad sites, on the internet, avoid communicating or copying bad people and be kind, courteous, patience, accommodating and reasonable with others.

The Mass Communication Department Students of Fountain University Osogbo, who organized the one-day seminar includes Sunday Adeagbo, Kingsley Omoyeni, Abisola Ariwodola, Tunmise Iluyomade, Jumoke Fasoyiro, Afeez Oyebamiji and Abisola Oyebode.
