Eid-el-Kabir: Olamiju, S.A. Public Health tasks Muslims on sacrifice, tolerance
The Special Adviser to Osun State Governor on Public Health, Dr. Olasiji Olamiju has urged Muslims in Nigeria, particularly those living in the state to put aside their differences and push for the unity of the country.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Olamiju enjoined them to imbibe attitude that portrays tolerance, sacrifice and togetherness as they mark the celebration of this year’s Eid-El-Kabir.
He urged them to emulate Prophet Ibrahim who despite his predicaments, sacrificed to fulfill the commandment of Allah as well as constituted authority.
While wishing all Muslims happy Eid El-Kabir celebrations, Olamiju advised everyone to follow all the safety guidelines laid down by the State Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) to curtail the spread of COVID-19. He then prayed for Allah’s blessings and protection with endless peace and joy.
“The exemplary virtues, typified by Prophet Ibrahim, through his sacrifice, patience, steadfastness, generosity and obedience to Allah’s command and the constituted authority should be your major preoccupation as you celebrate.
“I enjoin all the Muslim Ummah especially those in Osun State to be law-abiding and show generosity to their neighbors.”
The Public Health expert noted that, "Wearing a face mask helps protects one from contracting the COVID-19 virus. It is important we all Take Responsibility for our health and that of our loved ones this period by encouraging them to practice good hygiene through washing of hands, avoid handshakes, hugs and also use their face mask even at home since they would be receiving visitors”.
‘‘As you celebrate, therefore, let your prayers for our country and indeed Osun State have a positive impact on the overall progress and development of our dear state, especially at this trying time of COVID-19 pandemic which has adversely affected the economy of the state.”
