Agriculture: OYES Embarks on Onion Planting in South West

Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme, OYES towards food security, elimination of poverty in tandem with Multiple Sources of Income (MSI) mantra of the scheme have embarked on Onion planting in South West.
This is as the Mentors, Cadets and interested non-Cadets collected and planted the high breed onion seedling, which was gotten from Kano state.

The OYES Commandanté Col EniIbukun Oyewole rtd, revealed that the high breed onion seed is sold for Two thousand and five hundred naira, he added that the quantity will produce one thousand buds of onion at harvest.

Speaking at the OYES Mentors meeting held at the OYES headquarter in the state capital, the Commandantè said Urea Fertilizer, rich in high content of nitrogen is good and available for the onion planting. 

Listening to the situation report on the commencement of the onion planting by the Mentors, Cadets and non-Cadets, he added that the onion will take about 100 days for bountiful harvesting.

Col EniIbukun Oyewole rtd, reiterated that the Apalara (Ohun ta ba sise fun, ni npe lowo eni) mantra adopted by OYES is about hardwork, he added that it pays on the long run and he used the medium to urge the Mentors Cadets and non-Cadets of the youth support scheme to ensure that they invest in ventures that will benefit them alongside the state, adding that such will take them out of poverty. 

On Covid 19 sensitization, the Chairman of OYES Mentors, Mr Charles Ajani sensitized all and asked that the campaign be stepped down to cadets, particularly at such time that the third variant of Covid 19 has been discovered. 

He added that Osun government under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is proactive on protection of residents of the state, he urged all to support the Governor Oyetola in his strides of protecting and providing good living environment for the populace.
