SPAG Intensifies Advocacy on Gender Based Violence.

The State Partnership Against Gender Based Violence on Women and Girls with disability SPAG Committee in Osun state has intensified its advocacy campaign for the EMPOWER Project beneficiaries.

The Committee which held its quarterly meeting on Monday at the headquarter of Society for Life Changers and Good Parental Care SoLife, reiterated that advocacy to all stakeholders particularly the royal fathers, traditional leaders, religious leaders, market women among others must be heightened to sensitize all and sundry on the need to continually protect Women and Girls with disability. 

It emphasized that rally will be used as its advocacy to drive home the agitation that women and girls with disabilities should not be used for any form of violence, adding that access to quality healthcare and basic necessities of life is their right as citizens of the state and country at large.

In his address of welcome, the Chairman Board of Trustees of Society for Life Changers and Good Parental Care SoLife, Mr Aremu Stephens Akinyele commended the SPAG members for the consistency on the project.

He reteirated that the objective of ensuring that the EMPOWER Project targets are free from violence is priority, he said that the intervention on the issue of the Women and Children with disability in the selected local governments in the state must be continuous.

Aremu, who also double as the Chairman of the SPAG Committee said the goal of providing inclusion lives for the category of the women and children with disability in the state must be accompanied with results.

In her vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the SPAG Committee, the DPO Dada Estate police station, CSP Folashade Odoro hinged that the committee must always ensure the usage of feedback mechanism needed for assessment and improvement of the set goals of the EMPOWER Project.

She urged the SPAG members who are relevant stakeholders in the state, such as Ministry of Youths and Special Needs, Ministry of Education, Nigeria Service Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, the Nigerian Police Force, among others to use their platforms in favour of the Women and Girls with disability in Osun.
