Channel Your Energy Towards National Development - Governor Oyetola Charges Youths

Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola on Friday encouraged youths to direct their strength, energy and professional acumen to activities that can aid national development.

Oyetola stated this while declaring the 2nd edition of the South-West Youth Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum (YMLSF) Capacity Building Workshop open in Osogbo.

The Governor who spoke through his Special Adviser on Public Health, Dr Olasiji Olamiju described the theme of the workshop "Current perspectives and approaches in a big data Application and omics science in Africa: Economic opportunities and other Health outcomes as apt and appropriate.

Olamiju also described the youths as veritable tools for national development noted that their positive attitude towards sustaining a peaceful society will translate to economic boom.

He noted that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola's administration is ever committed to supporting researches that will translate to National development.

The Public Health expert therefore called on members of the Young Medical Laboratory Scientists to always take active parts in programmes and projects relating to their profession.

Noting that government cannot provide employment for every youth, Dr. Olamiju urged them to build a better Nigeria by showing their dexterity and be peaceful in their actions.

Earlier, the President Young Medical Laboratory Scientists Forum, Mr. Isomah Jeff said that the theme of the workshop was carefully chosen to cater for recent happenings in the African continent.

In their separate remarks, Representatives of the forum's South West chairman, Mr. Femi Adebo, and the State of Osun Chairman, Mr. Faremi Ayodeji appreciated the efforts of the State government in the fight against COVID-19.

According to them, there have been various approaches to treating diseases hence the need to check the economic importance of applying omic science in Africa.
