DG BOSS harps on executing projects in line with specifications

Handlers of government projects in both state and local government areas of the state of Osun have been warned to henceforth ensure that projects, programmes and policies of the Administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola are executed in line with set standard and specifications.

The warning was given by the Director General of the Bureau of Social Services BOSS, 

Mr. Richard Tinubu while receiving the leadership of ministry of Water Resources and Energy led by the Commissioner and the SA on Water Resources and Energy Prince Raheem Tadese and Mr. Adeniran Ibitoye respectively.

The DG in his address explained that BOSS was established to supervise, monitor, evaluate projects to guarantee standards and report the performance of all commissioners, Special Advisers, heads of agencies and parastatals to the Governor where such are not complied with.

Mr. Tinubu directed Ministry and the water corporation to from inception involve the bureau in the process of approval, work in progress, financial documentations, work plan and timeliness to ensure quality standard and minimise costs

Corrobaraing the DG of BOSS, Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Prince Raheem Tadese said the job of the Bureau is not to witch-hunt anybody but to guarantee efficiency in public service.

He told the Bureau that the only major project being handled by the ministry is the Ilesa Water Project saying out the six components, two are almost ready for commissioning while some others are at various stages of completion.

While answering questions on the state of affairs, the GM, Osun State Water Corporation, Engr. Ademola Fatola highlighted some of the challenges facing the corporation to include shortage of staff and find which was occassioned by their inability to retrieve debts owed them by government agencies, the police command and members of the public.

He explained that the Ilesa water project is being jointly financed by the Federal Government and the Islamic Development Bank.

In their responses, the DG of BOSS, Mr Tinubu and the Senior Special Adviser to the governor on Project Monitoring And Evaluation, Engineer Anwo Kolawole suggested the need for the corporation to pragmatic in it’s drive to boost revenues to justify government's financial commitment.
