Osun Special Adviser On Public Health Denies Diverting Palliatives...warns peddlers of falsehood to desist

The Special Adviser to State of Osun Governor on Public Health, Pharmacist Olasiji Olamiju has denied ever receiving or diverting food palliatives meant for the people of Obokun local government area.

The Special Adviser made the denial on Tuesday through a statement released by his media aide in reaction to accusations making the round that he diverted food palliatives donated by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past Governor of the state and Minister for Interior.

He stressed through the statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, that he did not come across any food item not to talk of diverting it for personal use.

Pharmacist Olamiju declared that he found it insulting and embarrassing to be accused of diverting food palliatives which he as a person has even distributed alongside other healthcare protective materials such as face masks, sanitisers, handwash etc to over 3300 people across both Obokun and Oriade local government areas from his own personal purse to mitigate the hardships caused by the stay at home order occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic through his Foundation weeks ago.

He warned people going about peddling the falsehood to desist from it or be ready to face the full consequences of the law if they continue to malign his good image and drag his name in the mud in the name of dirty politics.

The statement reads in part: "It has come to my attention that news is going around especially in the social media that I got and diverted food palliatives donated by the immediate past Governor of Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

"Let me state categorically that the information is false, it is just meant to destroy my good image by politically sponsored agents. I have not received any food palliative material, and of course, I am not supposed to receive it for distribution, I wonder why I am now being accused of receiving and diverting it.

"This is just the work of mischievous people. I strongly advise them to stop peddling such wrong information about me or be ready to face the full wrath of the law.

"Why would I divert food items meant for the vulnerables in the society? This is the handwork of people who just want to drag my name in the mud, they are people who are out to destroy the unity in our party and tarnish my image", Olamiju stated.

Reacting on the move by the leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Obokun local government to investigate the matter, the public health expert described the move as what he is happy about, urging for a thorough and speedy process.

He said, "I am happy on hearing that the leadership of the APC in my local government have decided to investigate the matter, it's a welcome development and I want them to be thorough and fast with it so that my name will be quickly cleared.

"As a frontliner in the tenacious fight against COVID-19 pandemic in Osun, I am too busy, focused and relentlessly determined to be distracted of keeping the state very safe from Community transmission of the virus."

"Once again, I urge those going about with this fake news not to get my tolerance limit exceeded or I will be forced to enforce litigation, you can't just go out spreading falsehood about a fellow human being, it is wrong, very ungodly", he concluded.
