Amotekun:Osun NUJ Felicitates with Comrade Amitolu.

Nigeria Union of Journalists  (NUJ) Osun State Council has congratulated Comrade Amitolu Shittu on his recent appointment as the Director General of Amotekun Security Corps,  by the Governor, State of Osun,  Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola.

In a press statement issued by the Council Chairman, Kehinde Ayantunji and Secretary, Bukola Elufadejin,the union tasked the new DG to live up to the expectation and justify the confidence reposed in him by the Governor and the people of Osun at large. 

NUJ said it has asbolute confidence in Amitolu Shitu that he will carry out the responsibility with patriotisim and and commitment based on his previous record of activisim during military era, commitment to democratic development in recent time and contribution to the security of lives and property through PCRC in the state. 

According to the union, insecurity has become a major treat to social and economic development with unaverted kidnapping, robbery, rituals killings among others which gave birth to Amontekun thereby  urged Amitolu to rise to the challenges with all sense of responsibility for the Amontekun in the state to become a pace setter and standard template for the rest of the South West.

The statement therefore charged the new DG to be  neutral and apolitical in discharge his duties not to betray the trust of the people and betray the collective aspiration of the South West who are anticipating better security of lives and property through Amontekun.
