Women-Led Organization Gives Food Reliefs To Women And Girls With Disability

Not fewer than 300 women and persons with disabilities benefited from the food relief of Society For Life Changers and Good Parental Care SoLife on Tuesday in Osun State, due to the effect of restrictions of movement placed by the government to forestall the spread of Coronavirus known as Covid 19.

The beneficiaries who were selected from Osogbo, Olorunda, Ede North, Ede South Orolu and Ifelodun local governments received the palliatives made available to them in collaboration with United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence Against Women (UN Women EMPOWER Project).

Speaking before the  distribution at the short programme held across the local governments in batches, due to social distance regulation, the Chairman Board Of Trustees, Society For Life Changers and Good Parental Care SoLife, Mr Aremu Stephen Akinyele said that irrespective of any kind of condition melted down by the government or economy, women are known to always be at the receiving end.

He added that it's disheartening to know that women in the state particularly persons with disabilities finds it difficult to survive the lockdown saga, hence the emergency palliatives given to them to cushion the effect.

He added that more beneficiaries are targeted at other local governments in the state and they will be giving the relief materials soon.

In her remark, the Society For Life Changers and Good Parental Care, SoLife-EMPOWER Project Manager Mrs Adeola Falana commended UN Women for it's supportive roles in empowering women and children with disabilities in this challenging period in the state.

She charged the beneficiaries not to hesitate in reporting any violence against women encountered during the Coronavirus pandemic lockdown.

In her vote of thanks, Mulikat Adejobi, a person with disability from Ede North local government, appreciated the duo of SoLife and UN Women  for being life savers of their category of persons in the society, and she prayed for God's blessings upon the Organization at all times.
