NEED FOR OYETOLA TO DECLARE STATE OF EMERGENCY IN MINISTRY OF WATER RESOURCES

The last time people of Erin Osun, Ifon Osun and Ilobu witnessed water supply was 2010 during the government of Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola of PDP and this cannot be contested by anyone. Actually, this is not limited to the aforementioned towns, the situation remains similar everywhere in the state. Even a caller from Ifon axis confirmed this on Rave 91.7fm programme tagged "Oju Eleri" this morning.

It is never an overstatement to say ex governor Rauf Aregbesola government failed woefully in the provision of pipe borne water. Aregbesola inherited functioning water dams and handed over dead dams to his predecessor. Several mini dams was put in place by Oyinlola's government, this was done to improve the standard of living and quality of lives of people living within the catchment area, through irrigation agronomy, livestock, fishery and forestry and supply of water for both human and animal consumption, through continuous cost reduction, efficient communication and better services. On assumption of Office Ex governor Aregbesola abandoned these millions of naira worth mini water projects in Osun state and this led to total damage of the mini dams.

It is now important to call on Governor Gboyega Oyetola to declare state of emergency in water ministry as none of the existing water dams are functioning any longer. Knowing fully well that supply of drinkable water is one of the duties of any serious government, especially now that different diseases like Lassa, coronavirus, e.t.c are rampant.
