Ex-Commissioner Makes Case for The Proposed Federal College of Education To Be Sited in Iwo

The immediate past Commissioner for Special Duties, State of Osun, Hon. Oguntola Mudasiru Toogun has made an appeal to the Governor State of Osun, Mr. Adegboyega Oyetola on the proposed Federal College of Education that has just been approved  by the Federal Government to be sited in Iwo, State of Osun.

Hon Toogun made the appeal at a programme organized to welcome hundreds of members of Peoples Democratic Party, (

PDP) from Iwo Local Government who decamped to the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress, (APC) at their welcome party which held at Iragbiji, the country home of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.  Hon. Toogun thanked the Governor on his laudable  achievements within the short period of his tenure. He especially lauded the governor on the commencement of Iwo-Osogbo Road Project. He further emphasized the crucial importance of locating the proposed Federal College of Education in Iwo of which he maintained that the Iwo indigenes will eternally be grateful. A proposed place which he described as would be conducive for the  proposed College is already in place for that purpose. Of equal importance is the economic aspect which will bring relief to the state government.

The ex- Commissioner also argued that Iwo being the Senatorial Headquarters of Osun West Senatorial as well as Headquarters of Ayedire, Iwo and Olaoluwa Federal Constituency is the only Federal Constituency in the State without the presence of Federal or State higher institution of learning.

Earlier, the spokesman of the decampees from Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Hon. Sambakiyu Iromini also appealed for the proposed Federal College of Education to be sited in Iwo. He further stated that the achievements recorded so far by Governor Oyetola motivated him and other members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to decamp to the ruling Party, All Progressives Congress, (APC). He therefore prayed for more successes for the Governor. 

Also speaking, the Asiwaju of Iwo land, Barr. Gbadegesin Adedeji while welcoming the decampees to the progressive folds, also made an appeal to the Governor on the same proposed Federal College of Education. He said Iwo land has been marginalized in terms of higher institution, according to him, Iwo is the best place for the proposed College. All APC leaders from Iwo and PDP decampees who spoke at the event also corroborated the view of the earlier speakers on the same pressing issue.

The State Governor, Mr  Gboyega Oyetola and APC State Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun received very warmly the decampees to the ruling Party and advised them to stay balanced. 

The Governor said his doors are opened to all. The party Chairman while expressing his delight also enjoined the decampees to feel at home as everyone will be treated equally. 

The programme which  was well attended by APC leaders in Iwo land and State of Osun at large had among others the presence of  Alhaji Debo Badru, Mayegun Musulumi of Iwoland, Alhaji Semiu Okanlawon, APC Chairman, Iwo Local Government, Prince Semiu Ayofe, Hon. Raji Kamoru, Chairman, Iwo Local Government, Hon. Rahman Lawal, Chairman, Iwo East LCDA, Hon. Ezekiel Adedibu, Chairman, Iwo West LCDA. Alhaji Fatai Abubakr, Hon Adeniyi Shuti, Hon. Raimi Gbadebo GRA, Hon. Amos Akindiya.

Also in attendance were Cabinet members of the State Executive Council from Iwo, Dr. Prince Amidu Tadese, Honourable Commissioner for Water Resources and Energy, Engr. Mumini Olabamiji, Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Affairs and other executive members.
