Prompt Maintenance of Government Projects, Equipment; Panacea to Wasteful Spending"- Chairman LGS

Prompt maintenance and sustainance of government's equipment and projects will go along way in managing government resources and reduce unnecessary spending on repairs and rehabilitation, thereby reducing waste.

The Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Elder Tunde Adedeji made  this assertion during the opening ceremony of a 3-day Improvement Course on Technical Competence for Technical Officers in the Local Government Councils of the State of Osun.

Elder Adedeji  revealed that the training is vital as it will sharpen participants' skills and make them alive to their responsibilities.

He disclosed that the Commission will not tolerate any act of indiscipline such as lateness, absenteeism and laziness to job.

In his address of welcome, the Managing Partner, Urban Design Consortium Limited, Architect Rotimi Bidmus stressed the need for Technical Officers to re-dedicate themselves to the principle of good governance and effective management of government's properties they are managing, adding that they must enhance the Local Government capability to plan, manage, consolidate existing infrastructure and service for more efficient and equitable service delivery.

According to him, "The Local Government Management System must be strengthened for efficient financing, delivery and maintenance of public service and infrastructure".

Speaking further, he  admonished the Technical Officers to enhance and improve their technical competence in order to achieve the overall objectives of the Local Government Commission.
