Osun Agric Commissioner Seeks Further Collaboration With IITA

Osun Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Adedayo Adewole has called for further collaboration with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in the area of their mandate to make Osun farmers and young ones have in-depth knowledge in the agricultural business and thus  move forward agricultural business in Osun.

The commissioner who led the team comprising the management and other relevant parastatals from the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to IITA made this call at the Director General of the agency's office in Ibadan.

The Commissioner commended the partnership between (IITA) and the state government at Àgó òwu axis where two hundred hectares(200 hectares) of land were given to the IITA for use.

Hon.Adedayo however used the medium to urge the (IITA) to bring more of their activities on ground along with their mandate to collaborate further with Osun Ministry of Agriculture by setting up Agric hubs in Osun especially in Àísú area at Ede junction where Osun youth and farmers can be trained specifically on Agric businesses like fisheries , vegetable and cassava plantations.

Hon.Adedayo stressed further that Agric business is a business component where youth and young ones can be trained and exposed  to Agriculture , since Agriculture business has moved from the way our forefathers practised it.

Earlier in his welcome address,the Director General of (IITA) Dr Nteranya Sanginga appreciated the commissioner and his team for visiting the (IITA) for the exploration of more collaborative efforts.

Some of the areas visited were youth section, Virology lab,food and nutrition, sciences laboratory, Genetic resources and the campus tour.
