WASTE A VERITABLE SOURCE OF INCOME SAYS COMMISSIONER FOR ENVIRONMENT/SANITATION.

Waste recycling has been described as a veritable source of income generation which assist in the  reduction of  poverty in the state.

The Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation Hon.sola Oladepo made this known today while declaring open a workshop on recycling waste collection and aggregation held at the Local Government Service Commission Multi-purpose Hall at the State Secretariat.

Hon. Oladepo stressed the need for every member of the society to be involved in environmental sanitation and Waste Management, adding that this Thursday the management of the Ministry of environment and Sanitation as well as Osun Waste Management Agency will be out to market places in the State to enforce environmental sanitation which is  usually between the  hours of 7 _10am.

Also in his speech, the Chief Whip of the state House of Assembly, Hon Tunde Olatunji commended Natural Eco Capital Limited team for pathnering with the state government to train and assist in the  implementation of recycling waste to wealth  in the state.

Hon Olatunji opined that waste recycling has lots of benefits to the state.

According to him, 'with the process more jobs will be created for the teeming youths, adding that it will also lead to clean environment which in turn will promote healthy living.

Earlier in his address, the General Manager Osun waste management Agency, Mr Femi Ogunbamiwo said the Agency got involved in Natural Eco Capital Limited  in 2018 and since then it has been doing all within its capacity to ensure that the smooth take off of the plastic/nylons recycling proposal is implemented.

Mr Ogunbamiwo also made it known that the Agency has been playing the roles of preparing plans and designs as well as constructing and supervising project for solving waste management and industrial pollution problems in the state.

He thereafter commended the State Government on it's effort on waste management, while appealling to the government to consider the approval of full payment of compensation on the land released for the  project in order to ensure peaceful occupation of the project site by the investor.

Similarly, Lectures were delivered on existing regulation or  bye_law for waste management in the State, waste collection and aggregation as well as safety tips and environmental hazards among others.
