Osun First Lady Charges Parents On Healthy Living

Wife of the Governor State of Osun, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has called on parents to continue to monitor their Children from birth to adulthood by giving them the right health messages and skills at each stage of development.
Mrs Oyetola Stated this during the flag off ceremony of De-worming programme for the pupils in Elementary and Middle Schools in the State of Osun, held at Ataoja School of Science, Osogbo.
Wife of the Governor Stated that one of the priorities of the present administration is to promote healthy living, saying the school feeding Programme in the state is one of the crucial aspects of it which is aimed at enhancing the growth and development of children in healthy and proper manner.
She added that the present administration in the State of Osun under the leadership of Governor Oyetola has repeatedly made known his readiness to make the educational performance of pupils and students in the State to be excellent through various important programmes by providing Condusive learning environment.        Mrs Oyetola who also described De-worming programme as cardinal to the overall success of the education programme of the present administration in the State, also disclosed that research studies have shown that children are particularly susceptible to worm infestations which could lead to growth retardation, malnutrition and a couple of other undesirable consequences when not properly treated.
    The wife of the Governor who commended the O- meal Agency in Osun for making the deworming programme an internal part of the O-meals programme, said it is a right step in the right direction which will give room for the children in Osun Schools to be very active and learn better in Schools as they would be less prone to infections.
    She now charged all handlers of the meals being served in various schools to always be vigilant about issues that could compromise hygiene, adding that both teachers and parents must ensure that they teach the pupils the attitude of proper and regular washing of hands with soap and water especially after using the toilet or play with sands.
    She added that all School authorities in Osun must ensure that the toilet facilities in various schools are functioning and supplied with water and soaps for proper Sanitation which will discourage the pupils from practising open defecation.
    Earlier in her address of welcome ,the State programme Officer Mrs Olaniyan Caroline said De-worming exercise which is dated back to the inception of O-meals programme is very dear to the heart of the agency despite the present administration's economic crunch in the State.
