Group Advocates For Girl Child Right

The Global Girls' Network has awarded 120 girls as part of its development of the girl child.

The girls reached out to during the maiden edition of the initiative were drawn from Rock Eternal Model School, DayStar Private School, Christ Life International School, Osogbo Government High School and CAC Grammar School Gbonmi.The girls were received at the award ceremony which was held at the Abraham Resource Christian Center, Capital Area, Osogbo. 

In his welcome address, Alamu Oluwafemi, the Program coordinator of the initiative sensitised participants about the initiative.

Mrs. Damilola Arowolo, a social worker in Osogbo, talked about counselling centers available for girls and the need for counsellors and why girls shouldn't be shy of their menstrual period because people are all products of stain.

Barr. Oladimeji spoke extensively on the rights of a girlchild adding that a girl can only fight for her right when she knows it.

The Honorable Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs; Barr. Olubukola Olaboopo was also present to grace the occasion as an advocate for the development of the girl child.

She pledged her commitment to be an advocate for the girl-child and encouraged the girls to be free to report any case of sexual violence or assault to the ministry.

"Girls should also ensure they take good care of themselves during their periods" she added.

The Commissioner promised to make a video to sensitize girls on how to use sanitary pads and make these pads economical to girls.

After the panel session, awards of excellence and selfless service to the development of the girl-child were presented to Mrs. Titilola Osho and Mrs. Damilola Arowolo.
The Honorable Commissioner was also awarded for her outstanding commitment and selfless service to the development of the girl child.

Winners of the Essay and drawing competition; Ajao Temitope and Akinyele Oluwapelumi respectively were also honored and awarded for their beautiful sense of imagination in writing and drawing.Certificate of Participation were presented by the team leader of Global Girls' Network- Ibikunle Itunuoluwa Esther to the first and second runner up of the drawing and essay competition.

According to get, "aside the academic development of a girl-child, her talents and abilities should also be developed, for this makes them unique". 

The team leader; Ibikunle Itunuoluwa expressed her gratitude to all the guests, students and teachers for making it to the event.

The young girl reproductive health is an initiative of the Global girls' network which is a non- profit,youth owned non-governmental, voluntary organization that deals with challenges faced by females via available platform. Ensuring absolute protection of every girl children in the society,providing maximum support in raising them to their full potential in the society

The programme was anchored by Oke-Baltimore Olajumoke and the panel session was moderated by Aisha Sanusi, who is the founder of "Stand Up To A Different Foundation" with a group of panelists which include; Mrs. Titilola Osho (Diction Masters Educational Consultancy), Mrs. Damilola Arowolo( Program Officer JDPMC ) Barr. Oladimeji Opeyemi and Pharm. Adebisi Adenipekun.
