HON. AYENI TO PERFORM OFFICIAL KICK-OFF AS NUJ SOCCER COMPETITION RESUMES

The lawmaker representing Ijesha South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives in Abuja, Hon. Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni will today perform the traditional kick off of the ongoing 2019 Osun NUJ Inter Chapels Soccer Competition holding at the Osogbo Township Stadium.

The Ijesha-born politician, who is very popular due to his undiluted passion for sports development is the major supporter of the Competition and is expected to grace the second round of matches slated for Friday, 11th October 2019.

Matches begin 9am today when last year’s runners up, Uniq FM entertain NTA chapel while State Information will trade tackles with Federated Chapel.

The last match of the day involves the boastful Rave FM who will lock horns against a resurgent Correspondent Chapel who tore Osun Defender apart 6-3 in their first game.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the State of Osun council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji has advised all chapels to cooperate together and ensure that the smooth relationship among chapels continue to hold sway.

Comrade Ayantunji, while addressing participating chapels said the purpose of the competition, which is part of the activities of 2019 Osun NUJ Press Week was for members of the forth estate of the realm to remain united through sports and keep fit through physical exercise.

In his address, chairman of the 2019 NUJ Sports Committee, Tajudeen Amodu popularly known as Tjsports stressed the need for chapels to see the competition as a novelty and not a do or die affair.

Mr Amodu said the committee would not rob Peter to pay Paul and would be fair to all, urging participating chapels to play the game by the rules
