Governor Oyetola lauds NYSC for siting Area Office in Osun

The Governor of the State of Osun, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has lauded the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, for siting one of its approved Area Offices for the six geopolitical zones in Osun.

Governor Oyetola made the appreciation remark during the courtesy call paid to him at his office by the delegation of Osun State NYSC, led by the new State Coordinator Mr. Ayodele Adegoke.

The Governor commended the Federal Governments Former President General Yakubu Gowon led administration for creating the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, which according to him bonded the nation in unity irrespective of tribe or state, describing it as a scheme worth commendation.

He added that the Federal Government approving one of the area offices of the NYSC,  through the office of the Director General of NYSC Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, to be situated in Osun, showed, that the effort of Osun Government to the National Youth Service Corps in the state is recognized and appreciated, adding that the Federal Government funding of the scheme will be complimented with necessary support by the state government.

The number one citizen of Osun State welcomed the new State Coordinator and also stated his appreciation of the state NYSC staff dedication and commitment to the Scheme, while he pledged his administrations support to the state NYSC at all times.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola assured the youth Corpers serving in the state of adequate security, adding that the state has made preparation to guarantee safety, while he outlined the security guidelines as construction of helicopter pad for the states security chopper patrol of the state, as well as collaboration of South West Governments to tackle insecurity in the region.

While describing Osun state as peaceful state with tourist sites and other potentials, Governor Oyetola maintained that Osun people are appreciative and will lookout for the safety of every youth Corper posted in the state.

'I appreciate the fact that the Federal Government approved Osun to be given one of the Area Offices from the six geopolitical zones in the country. It shows they appreciate what we are doing in Osun for the NYSC scheme'.

'National Youth Service Corps NYSC, was created during the tenure of former President Yakubu Gowon. I remember it was part of what I ascribed to his person. It aided unity in Nigeria irrespective of where you come from'.

I can see the five youth corpers among the delegation and during introduction, I picked from their names that only one of them has a Yoruba name, while others are from other parts of the country. It reminded me of my serving in Porisko, Yobe state, I enjoyed every part of my service year, it was indeed a memorable service experience'.

The National Youth Service Corps NYSC is fully funded by the Federal Government, and I pledge the support of the state in needed areas, and I commend the state office of the NYSC  for the dedication and commitment to duty and service of the NYSC'.
'I want to assure the Youth Corpers in the state, that they are very safe here. All the noise about insecurities was political propaganda, but the truth remains that crime rate here in Osun is very low'.
'Apart from that, the state has made elaborate preparation to guarantee safety. Construction of helicopter pad is ongoing for our security patrol of the state with the chopper, and all Governors in the South West have collaborated to guarantee absolute safety in the states'.

Osun is filled with good people and attractive tourist sites as well as other potentials. I welcome all the corpers to Osun, and I want you to know that the people of the state are very accommodating. They will look out for your welfare'.
Earlier in his opening remark, the State Coordinator for Osun NYSC, Mr Ayodele Adegoke appreciated and prayed for the government of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, while he informed him of the swearing in of 2019 Batch B stream 2 youth corpers in the state.

Mr Adegoke while listing their prayed, also thanked the Osun Governor Gboyega Oyetola for the prompt payment of Five thousand naira monthly transport allowance for corpers serving in the agencies of the government in the state.

The State Coordinator of NYSC and the Coordinating Director Ministry of Empowerment and Youth Engagement, the overseeing ministry for the scheme, Dr Bosun Awoyemi presented the Compendium of National Youth Service Corps NYSC and the state local magazine to Governor Gboyega Oyetola as a symbol from the national body, in the presence of top management of the state NYSC and top government functionary in the state.
