Governor Oyetola Calls Out for Collaboration with Security Operatives


Osun State Governor Gboyega Oyetola has called out to security operatives in the state towards protection of lives, properties and vices by criminals and illegal immigrants.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola made the call during the courtesy call made to him by the bodies of the newly posted Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Services NIS, Issa Uba Panshekara PCC PSC, and Commandant Oguntuase Adeyinka Kingsley of the Nigerian Security and Defence Corps NSCDC, held at the Exco chamber of the Government office in Osogbo the state capital.

The number one citizen of Osun State commended the men of the Nigerian Immigration Services NIS and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC for paying him a joint courtesy visit, which he described as the first of its kind in the state, adding that the style shows the newness of culture of the Federal Ministry of Interior, which shows that the Minister, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, who was his predecessor is working.

The Governor emphasized that joint patrol of the security outfits in the state is needed to flush out criminals hiding place, particularly in mining areas, adding that most of the so called criminals who are not miners but illegal miners hide under the camouflage of mining.

Governor Oyetola called on the command of the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state to curtail the presence of illegal immigrants from neighboring countries flooding the state, adding that with the training of the immigration service, there is need for the operatives to be proactive in the discharge of their duties against illegals.

He added that the Nigeria Immigration Service in the state should be able to track the illegal immigrants who came into the country and state with Ecowas passport, just like security outfits in modern countries, who have tracking and monitoring devices against illegal immigrants.

Governor Gboyega Oyetola also charged the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the state to use their skill of intelligence gathering to know the location of criminals and flush them out of the state, adding that part of their role is to compliment their duty on security and vices in the region, a performance he described as active.

Furthermore, Governor Gboyega Oyetola said the Civil Defence Corps command should work out security plans against kidnapping, rape, Child Abuse and Cultism which had become the order of the day, describing it as unfortunate that primary and secondary school students engage in cultism.

'I formerly welcome you to this courtesy visit and I can see the courtesy newness of Federal Ministry of Interior in you, because for the first time, we have such joint courtesy visit of Immigration and Civil Defence in the state, it shows my predecessor who is the Minister for Interior is working'.

'We want collaboration of a joint patrol of security outfits, so that criminals will know they have no hiding place in our state. We need the collaboration to flush out criminals particularly in the mining area of the state. This is so because most of this illegals are not miners but criminals hiding under the pretext of mining'.

'I charge the immigration service command to curtail the presence of illegal immigrants from neighboring countries flooding the state. The influx of these illegals should be stopped with your training and there is need for you to be proactive against this illegals in the discharge of your duties'.

'I know your tentacles are large, but I believe there should be a way for you to track this illegal immigrants, at least they come in by road. In civilized country, such illegals are easily tracked, talk less of immigrants who come into the country with Ecowas passport'.

'You need to use your intelligence gathering to know where they are and flush them out, as part of your role as Civil Defence is to compliment security and guard against vices and I can say, you are doing very well'.

'Talking about security, I need your corps to focus and work against kidnapping, rape, Child Abuse and cultism in the area. It is unfortunate to know that primary and secondary school students are now involved in cultism and it is disheartening, it should be stopped', Governor Oyetola stated.

Earlier in their separate remarks, the Osun Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Services Issa Uba Panshekara PCC PSC, congratulated Governor Gboyega Oyetola of his victory as the Executive Governor of Osun State, and he also congratulated the former Governor Rauf Aregbesola who successfully piloted the affairs of the state before he emerged as the Minister for Interior, the services parent company.

Panshekara described the services of the outfit, adding that it also compliment Nigeria Police Force in comprehensive data of migrants in the state, adding that the services has its officers in the 30 local governments areas of the state handling the sensitization of residents and documentation immigrants in the locality for the command headquarters in the state.

Similarly the Osun Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NCDSC, Oguntuase Adeyinka Kingsley also congratulated Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his victory as well as the 28th year anniversary of the state creation, and he as well congratulated the choice of Mr Rauf Aregbesola, the former governor of the state, currently the Minister for Interior, their mother agency.

Oguntuase called for the cooperation of the government, and the citizens, while pledging the cooperation of their civil activities and synergy with other security outfits in the state for peaceful co-existence towards a safe state, adding that the Osun command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps is ready to work 24/7 to serve the state with the cooperation of the citizenry for the success of the government of Governor Gboyega Oyetolas' administration.
