Osun NUJ Congratulates Oyetola

Nigeria Union of Journalists, (NUJ) Osun State Council, has felicitated with Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on his victory at the Supreme Court, which affirmed the legitimacy of his emergence during the September, 2018 gubernatorial poll.

This was contained in a congratulatory message jointly signed by the Chairman, Kehinde Ayantunji and Assistant Secretary, Ademola Lawal.

The union commended the governor and his main challenger, Senator Ademola Adeleke together with their political parties and supporters for conducting themselves  peacefully throughout the fierce electoral litigation battle,  urging Oyetola and his party,  the All Progressives Congress (APC) to be magnanimous in victory.

It opined that the  Apex Court's pronouncement must serve as an impetus that should ordinarily spur him  to do more in  the quest to fulfil his electoral promises to the people of the state.

The statement reads, "Osun NUJ congratulates  governor Gboyega Oyetola  on his victory at the Supreme court and charge him to see the legal triumph as an opportunity to fasten his belt  and face challenges of governance squarely in order to justify the mandate of the people. We believe that on no circumstances should the unflinching support of the people be taken for granted.

"With the finality of the litigation that has brought no less distraction, the governor is  expected to bring best hands onboard to enhance quality of governance. 

"We therefore implore the governor to prioritise the welfare of the workers, and  intensify efforts in addressing  the security challenges in the state and pay more attention to infrastructure, health, education and industrial development to further improve  the economy of the state, as we  assure him our support towards  the development of the  state."
