There was no shortage of action in the final El Clasico of the season on Sunday night.

Many predicted a dull affair at the Nou Camp with Barcelona having already wrapped up the La Liga title but Real Madrid gave them a run for their money in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Superstars Luis Suarez, Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale all wrote their names on the scoresheet during the end-to-end draw. Barcelona's Sergi Roberto was also dismissed for a first-half scuffle with Marcelo.

A pretty positive result for Los Blancos after the events of this season, then?

Certainly, but the performance came at a cost for Real as their talisman Ronaldo was taken off at half-time with an injury - and just 20 days away from their Champions League final appearance at that.

Ronaldo injured during El Clasico

Real face Liverpool in the final in Kiev on May 26 and the events of that evening will serve to define the seasons of both clubs.

Los Blancos, on the whole, have endured a pretty disappointing campaign yet have seriously impressed in Europe and four Champions League titles in five years would dispel any worries.

But playing without Ronaldo would make that task incredibly difficult and it seems touch and go as to whether the star man will be fully fit in time.

Zidane: Ronaldo worried about CL final

After the game, Zinedine Zidane admitted that the 33-year-old was in fact worried about the Champions League final but believes the crock is minor.

Zidane revealed: "Ronaldo said it was something minor. We will look tomorrow and see what damage has been done.

"He is a little bit worried (about Kiev) but says it's something minor.

"Right now it's not good but I think it's minor. It's just the movement, tomorrow we'll see. He said it's minor.

"Champions League? We're going to do everything to make it."

And according to Marca and AS, even if Ronaldo does make a quick recovery, his injury will necessitate time on the sidelines until the big day arrives.

Three weeks away from action before the final certainly isn't ideal, even if Ronaldo is one of the finest athletes in the game.

Plus, Madristas can be reassured by the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's reiteration that the crock is minor and his worries about the Champions League final may be fading now.

Of course, Liverpool fans would much prefer the star man to be out of action come May 26.

That being said, it seems that Real will be getting Ronaldo out onto the pitch in Ukraine by hook or by crook. Only time will tell how he fares.
